OMK are global market leaders in the design, manufacture and installation of public area seating systems.
The company provides seating design, development and customisation services, as well as specification consultations.
OMK manages projects, site installation and worldwide logistics. Its after-sale services include spare part stocking, upgrading and refurbishment.
As passenger numbers increase, the need to provide a higher quantity of seats in existing gate rooms is now a priority. Closely collaborating with industry architects, operators and specifiers, OMK has recently launched a new FLITE system to the market to fulfil the requirements for high-density lounge seating.
FLITE offers a 10% increase in seating capacity over alternative products, creating a low-cost yet robust seat with a tighter footprint. Its rolled front and back panels reduce the risk of accidental impact injuries.
The new range is created as a high-density seating solution for next-generation super jumbo aircraft, such as the A380.
The minimalist structure uses a single support bracket and identical-injection, moulded, self-skinned polyurethane seat and back panels available in any RAL colour.
This simple concept offers advantages for in-house maintenance both in terms of cleaning and easy replacement of individual panels.
The entire unit may be assembled in minutes using a single tool.
TRAX is a modular beam-mounted seating system, available in continuous lengths from two to seven runs without the need for intermediary leg supports.
It is an exceptionally versatile modular passenger system, using a standard chassis supplied with OMK’s wide range of seat finishes. This provides the user with flexibility and accommodates changing passenger profiles.
Optional seat finishes include polyester, powder-coated steel; self-skinned, moulded polyurethane and saddle-stitched coach-hide, which may be fully upholstered in a wide range of materials. OMK also offers various foot and arm options.
In addition to low-back standard seats, further interchangeable options include high-back, foot rests, group seating pods and integral power / USB charging stations.
TRAX has been designed to provide maximum visibility for security purposes.
Seat and back panels can be replaced in-situ using a single tool and are spaced to avoid dirt and fluid retention. The system also allows for a table to be fixed in place of an individual seat.
Originally commissioned to compliment Nicholas Grimshaw’s futuristic design for the British Pavilion at the Seville Expo 1992, the Seville bench system has since gone on to win numerous design awards, including Millennium Product.
During its 35 years in the public seating sector, OMK has worked closely with numerous operators and architects to answer the needs of public area seating through product variations and finishes.
The SEVILLE bench was designed specifically for short-sit situations where space and passenger circulation is critical, such as baggage reclaim areas. Suitable for exterior or interior use, the bench’s surfaces are designed to eliminate water and heat retention, making it perfect for all weather conditions.
Its multi-directional aerofoil seat design makes it suitable for areas where space is at a premium and for use as a platform seat. Utilising interlocking extruded aluminium seat and beam sections, with a self-coloured, durable anodised finish, the individual seat components slide onto the beam and are locked in place by die-cast aluminium end caps, so no other fixings are required.
The seat may be floor-fixed, wall-mounted or free-standing with optional arms all made from die-cast aluminium with a UV-stable polyester powder coating.
The Link seating system is a dynamic solution designed for airport concourse and retail areas. It features a moulded polyurethane seat that has a unique geometric shape, and with a simple linking device can be removed and reattached to create dynamic formations.
Accessories such as dividers, table and charging points can be easily added to the base units. It carries 25 year guarantee.
OMK’s Bridge is a modular table that offers passengers a place to work with charging ports. It is built around a central steel unit that contains the electrical cabling for the four replaceable power outlets with one standard plug used to connect the table to a power source.
The table is made of Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certified ply wood panels with a Fenix laminate finish. It can be used as a free-standing or floor-fixed solution in a variety of colours. International power sockets can be supplied, along with an optional USB A and C port.
OMK was founded in 1964 by Rodney Kinsman RDI, who began designing and manufacturing much of the furniture for the Habitat chain. In 1980, the company was approached by Jane Priestman of the British Airport Authority (BAA) to design a seating system for the new North Terminal at Gatwick Airport.
This triggered OMK’s move into public seating, and in 1990, it was commissioned once again by Priestman to design a seating system for the future. The result, TRAX, was developed into a highly flexible modular seating system that would be used in more than 200 airports, rail stations and hospitals worldwide.
OMK is based in central London and contains a state-of-the-art design studio with rapid prototyping facilities and the latest 3D CAD systems. A full range of airport seating solutions is on display in the company showroom.
OMK also offers a free planning service, together with a comprehensive after-sales support, including project management, delivery and onsite assembly.
All OMK products have been independently tested by the Furniture Industry Research Association (FIRA) to withstand the most vigorous use, and carry a 25-year structural guarantee.
Some of OMK’s most recent successes were in 2014, when the company supplied and installed almost 25,000 seats in Saudi Arabia, 14,700 seats to the new King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah and 10,000 seats for the new airport at Medina.
The company has today supplied more than 300 projects worldwide, and its products have received around 30 international design awards, with SEVILLE receiving the accolade of being awarded a Millennium Product for the Future in 2000, and the Queen’s Award in recognition of its outstanding contribution to UK trade in 2016.
