OMK Design, the global market leader in public seating design, today announced it has won the Queen’s Award, the highest official UK accolade for a business.

The award recognises the company’s export success in the design, manufacture and supply of over 300 airports worldwide with its award-winning, public seating systems. OMK saw an exceptional growth in overseas sales revenue over three years, between 2012 and 2014, following the introduction of a refocused export strategy and its new product FLITE – a compact, high-performance seating system.

The prestigious recognition comes in the year that marks both the 50th anniversary of the company and Her Majesty the Queen’s 90th birthday.

‘Receiving the award in our 50th year, in recognition of our position as the international market leader in public seating is hugely gratifying,’ said Rodney Kinsman, founder and Chairman, OMK Design. ‘As a design-led British company our products have been previously recognised with numerous design awards, including Millennium Product, but the Queen’s Award endorses our commercial success and that of our in-house team, having recently supplied over 25,000 seats to Saudi Arabia.’

The Queen’s Award is given in light of excellence in international trade, innovation or sustainable development, upon advice to Her Majesty the Queen from the serving UK Prime Minister.
