Whilst continuing to increase our worldwide presence with projects as far a field as Colombia, Morocco and the Falkland Islands, atg airports are forever strengthening their position in the UK AGL market. As well as providing maintenance support at all of our existing clients, atg have the development of a new PLC based control system at Stornoway airport.

Alex Stewart, representing Highlands and Islands Airports Ltd, recently visited the atg manufacturing and development facility in Warrington in order to witness a FAT (Factory Acceptance Test) of the new Sonnis Control System designed and soon to be installed by atg airports.

The FAT test is designed to prove the functionality of the system from both an operators and a maintenance point of view by simulating various real life scenarios as well as the physical checks of the suitable hardware. The scope of the project called for a hardwired mimic and a remote I/O panel to be located inside the VCR, to be supported by a maintenance PC and PLC control cubicle situated inside the A-Centre.

The system, which will compliment the Micro 100 CCR’s and Clearway taxiway guidance signs already on site, is the third control system to be supplied to Highland and Islands after successful projects at Kirkwall and Benbecula.
