Three of the top four largest airports in Norway are now being served by Vanderlande Industries.

In December 2011 Vanderlande Industries was awarded the contract worth nearly €3m for the modification of the baggage handling system at Trondheim Airport Vaernes in Norway. The modification will allow the airport to efficiently handle the baggage of at least five million passengers annually. Last year almost four million passengers were using Vaernes, being the hub airport for the middle of Norway and presently having 19 domestic and 34 international destinations.

The public tender procedure for the baggage handling modification project at Trondheim International Airport was won by Vanderlande Industries because of the competitive proposal and unique design based on the BAXORTER loop sorter.

The scope of supply for this modification project includes integration of a BAXORTER loop sorter, complete replacement of high and low level controls with the VIBES software suite and replacement of all PLC’s. Some equipment from Oslo Airport Gardemoen will also be reused and integrated in the system. The project will be executed during live-operations and will commence mid 2012. The system is planned to be completely operational in May 2013.
