Fuji Dream Airlines (FDA), a start-up Japanese domestic airline promoted by the Suzuyo Group, has chosen IBS’ iFly Res, to manage its inventory and reservation system. The system went live on 1 June 2009. Through a five year contract, IBS’ solution will support FDA to manage passenger reservations, inventory control, fares and departure control functions.

iFly Res is a constituent product that forms part of the iFly solution suite for airline passenger services. To date, 18 airlines are committed to using products that make up this solution suite. iFly Res is a comprehensive customer sales and service solution, built on new-generation technology, providing ample capabilities in shopping, pricing, inventory control and web check-in to help airlines best serve their customers through every point of their journey.

Fuji Dream Airlines was incorporated in June 2008 to be the Suzuyo Group’s flight service arm. FDA will launch domestic operations in July 2009, with Mt Fuji Shizuoka airport in central Japan as its base. The Suzuyo Group, established in 1801, is a diversified business group with over 100 companies engaged in trading, commercial distribution, construction, food, information, regional development and airline business.

On the occasion, V K Mathews, chairman and CEO of IBS Group, said: “Our software solutions were always looked upon by established global players in the airline industry as a preferred substitute to their legacy systems. But for a brand-new airline like FDA to have chosen IBS from its first day of operation is very gratifying. This is a significant entry for our passenger reservation system given the highly competitive and demanding nature of the Japanese market.”
