TRANSNORM is supplying 264 curved belt conveyors and full belt merges for the expansion of the Chongqing Jiangbei International Airport in China.

TRANSNORM System (Shanghai) Co Ltd has received an order for 264 curved belt conveyors and full belt merges for the baggage handling system of the new Terminal 3 at the Chongqing Jiangbei International Airport, from the airport integrator CASRI (Second Research Institute of CAAC). With the construction of the new Terminal 3A that is intended to be completed in 2015, the capacity of the airport will now be expanded to 60 million passengers per year. This will make Chongqing Jiangbe one of the 15 largest airports in the world.

TRANSNORM is one of the leading global manufacturers of high-performance modules for baggage handling systems and its products are present at over 300 airports worldwide, including the world’s top 30 airports. Peter van der Klooster, sales director for Asia Pacific, was pleased with this order: "In particular, following this, the installed base of TRANSNORM conveyors in China has increased to more than 1,700 modules. This means we now have presence at a total of 25 Chinese airports."

Starting from last year, the Chinese market has been supported by the newly established TRANSNORM SYSTEM (Shanghai) Co LTD with its own sales and services company. "Apart from direct sales support, we can now also offer customers improved service response times and shorter delivery lead times for spare parts" explained Mr van der Klooster.
