For over ten years, Materna ips has been successful in the development and marketing of bag drop solutions for airports and airlines. Together with Siemens, sales activities are set to be extended to other areas. The modular Sicheck solution from Siemens incorporates a range of bag drop variants which can be adapted to the individual requirements of different airports and airlines.

Together with the Materna software, this enables fully automated check-in with integrated baggage check-in, among other features. In future, the cooperation with Siemens will allow Materna to offer the CUSS-based solution to airports in Europe, the Middle East and Asia.

In combination with the Materna software, Sicheck provides extreme flexibility for both passengers and airport operators. Sicheck is available in various versions to suit customer requirements and can be integrated on an individual basis. Both open and closed systems are possible.

Self-service check-in gives air passengers considerably improved flexibility and convenience. They can check in when and where they want, change their seats at any time and reduce waiting times. They can use the time they save to go shopping or have a coffee in the airport – so the airport operators benefit again. The airlines take the strain off their infrastructure and can use their staff more sensibly.

Joint expert know-how for more efficient customer support

Materna has been working in automatic passenger processing for nearly 20 years. The company has been an IATA partner since 2000 and is working on the standardisation of self-service systems. Reinhard Augustin, Transportation Sales Director at Materna, explains the cooperation with Siemens: "We are linking in to a successful cooperation which began 19 years ago. Materna benefits enormously from Siemens’ know-how in conveyor technology and in security and identification technology.

Siemens has excellent contacts with airports and airlines all over the world – and the benefits from this promise to be excellent. From the other perspective, Siemens can also benefit from our extensive know-how in check-in and bag drop applications and in airline and airport processes. Together, Siemens and Materna can serve the market for self-service systems, especially for baggage check-in, even more efficiently.

Visitors to Passenger Terminal Expo 2013 in Geneva can see the Sicheck solution live at the Siemens stand No.1005. Materna will showcase its solutions at stand No. 5100.
