Bombardier Aerospace has opened its new Learjet 85 aircraft component manufacturing facility at its site in the Querétaro Aerospace Park in Mexico.

The 185,000ft² manufacturing centre was completed in July 2010 and fabrication of development parts soon followed, with the fabrication of parts for the first aircraft now underway.

In addition, over 36,300ft² of existing space at the Querétaro site has been allocated to the Learjet 85 aircraft programme.

This brings the total Learjet 85 aircraft footprint at the Querétaro manufacturing site to about 221,300ft² to support composite fuselage manufacturing and wing assembly.

The facility is responsible for the fabrication of the Learjet 85 aircraft’s major composite structures.

The unit has fabricated over 150 tools, including many major lay-up tools, in the last three months and shipped them to the new Learjet 85 aircraft component manufacturing site.
