Lockheed Martin has been selected by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to lead the national airspace system integration support contract (NISC) III.

NISC-III is a follow-on contract to provide continued support for transition, integration and implementation of selected FAA national airspace system (NAS) modernisation and NAS support programmes.

The order, with a four-year base award, is valued at $500m, and the ten-year award will be worth $1.4bn if all options are exercised.

NISC provides services and integration planning for equipment and infrastructure improvements for NAS modernisation.

NISC task orders enable quick access to an array of experts with high-level technical, engineering and information technology capabilities where the FAA needs to implement or integrate equipment, components or related capital projects.
