Aerospace Industrial Development Corporation (AIDC) has received an order worth NT$5bn ($161.3m) from Mitsubishi Heavy Industries of Japan for Mitsubishi Regional Jet (MRJ) planes.
AIDC won Mitsubishi’s order for key parts for 65 MRJs, and additional orders for another 60 such aircraft.
AIDC will launch an advanced compound-material centre in Taichung, central Taiwan, in November with an investment of NT$2bn ($64.5m).
The centre, to begin production in January 2011, will enter full-capacity production in 2014 with annual production valued at NT$3bn ($96.8m), according to news.cens.com.
