Pakistan Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission (SUPARCO) will launch its telecommunication satellite, PakSat 1R, on 14 August 2011.

The PakSat 1R satellite will replace the current telecommunication satellite developed by Hughes System.

PakSat 1R will include a total of up to 30 transponders, including 18 in Ku band and 12 in C band, and support all conventional and modern fixed satellite service (FSS) applications.

The data and signals sent from the satellite will be received by satellite ground stations located in Karachi and Lahore.
