Colombian airline Aires has received Q400 aircraft from Bombardier to operate in South America.

The 78-seater Q400 aircraft has logged more than two million flight hours and over two million landing and take-off cycles in total.

Aires CEO Francisco Mendez said with the requirement for additional seating capacity, it was decided that the fleet should remain largely based on Bombardier aircraft with the acquisition of the Q400 turboprop.

Bombardier Commercial Aircraft president Gary R Scott said the Q400 turboprop airliner was ideally suited to the short and medium-haul routes in Aires’s network and offer the a reduced environmental impact.

The first Q400 aircraft operator in South America, Aires has previously acquired four Q400 aircraft.
