The nacelle, developed jointly with Snecma, is part of Aircelle’s nacelle innovative and acoustic demonstrator (NAIAD) programme, launched by the firm in 2007.
The NAIAD features an all-composite laminar flow air inlet, advanced acoustic treatment on interior surfaces and nacelle components produced through new manufacturing processes such as thermoplastic forming.
The full-scale NAIAD inlet will be tested later this year at Snecma’s facility, and follow-on outdoor testing is planned for 2011 at GE’s Peebles, Ohio, facility in the US.
Aircelle and Snecma are companies of Safran group.
