Asia Satellite Telecommunications (AsiaSat) will use the International Launch Services Proton launch vehicle to launch AsiaSat 7 into space.

AsiaSat 7 is presently being built by Space Systems / Loral and will serve as a substitute for AsiaSat 3S, operating at the orbital location of 105.5°E.

The satellite is based on the Space Systems / Loral 1300 platform with C and Ku-band transponders and has a design life of 15 years.

ILS and Khrunichev are implementing a mission integration schedule for a 2011 launch from the Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan.
