Air Lease Corporation has finalised orders for the purchase of up to 60 next-generation 737-800s from Boeing.
The order for deliveries through 2017 was first announced at the Farnborough Air Show in July 2010.
In addition to 54 firm orders, the deal includes six additional airplanes to be reconfirmed.
Air Lease Corporation chairman and CEO Steven F Udvar-Hazy said that, with the large and long-term commitment, it will be able to offer its clients a more economical, fuel-efficient and versatile airplane for a variety of profitable missions.
