Boeing has completed the steel framework for its new 787 Dreamliner final assembly building.

Work on the 1.1-million-square-foot structure began in November 2009.

787 final assembly and delivery vice-president and general manager Marco Cavazzoni said that by this time next year, the final assembly building will be complete and it will have begun production of the first South Carolina-built 787 Dreamliner.

Airplane production at the facility is due to begin in July 2011 and first delivery is scheduled for first-quarter 2012.

At full production rate, Boeing will assemble and deliver three 787s a month from South Carolina.
