Australia’s Qantas Airlines has grounded five Bombardier Q400 aircraft from the QantasLink fleet, following an inspection of a main landing gear component.
Qantas CEO Alan Joyce said the inspections and temporary suspension were executed after incidents experienced by another Q400 operator overseas and following discussions with the manufacturer.

Qantas spokesman Simon Rushton told AFP that UK airline Flybe had raised concerns about undercarriage fittings on its fleet of Q400s.
“We have picked up some issues with one or two of them [fittings] on each of the [five] aircraft, and that has required us to take them out of service,” he said.
Qantas expects to have two of the planes, operated by its regional airline QantasLink, back in service on the Sydney to Canberra route shortly.
