China has successfully placed another remote sensing satellite, Yaogan X, into orbit from its Taiyuan Satellite Launch Centre in northern Shanxi Province.
Yaogan X was sent into space aboard a Long March 4C carrier rocket, according to the Xinhua News Agency.
The satellite is expected to conduct scientific experiments, carry out surveys on land resources, estimate crop yield and aid in natural disaster reduction and prevention endeavour.
Yaogan IX, its predecessor, was launched from the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Centre in north-western Gansu Province in March 2010.
