The Indian Space and Research Organisation’s (ISRO) polar satellite launch vehicle (PSLV) has successfully launched with five satellites onboard.
The PSLV injected Cartosat–2B and four auxiliary satellites into the circular orbit of 637km with an orbital inclination of 98.1°.
Cartosat-2B, weighing 690kg, is an Indian high-resolution remote-sensing satellite that will collect images for cartographic applications such as mapping, land information and geographical information systems.
Alsat-2A, a 117kg Algerian satellite, will be launched along with Cartosat-2B from Sriharikota Spaceport in India along with two nanosatellites, NLS 6,1 and NLS 6.2, from Canada and Switzerland, and StudSat, developed by Indian students.
