Russia is seeking to develop launch vehicles that will carry heavier payloads to the International Space Station by 2018.
In the first phase, a mid-class carrier rocket system will be designed with an advanced payload lifting capacity of up to 24t, according to brahmand.com.
The new system is due for its first flight test in 2015 and it will begin operating in 2018, according to the federal state unitary enterprise, TsNIIMash.
In the next phase, Russia will build a super-heavy rocket with a payload capacity of up to 100t.
The country will then develop reusable space vehicles, following the development of super-heavy rockets.
