Boeing has temporarily suspended 787 Dreamliner fuselage shipments to the final assembly facility near Seattle to resolve issue of parts shortages along the supply chain.

Boeing spokeswoman Mary Hanson told the Wall Street Journal that the firm had asked suppliers to hold off on shipping fuselage sections for two airplanes for about a month to settle the supply chain issues.

The airframe manufacturer is currently trying to ramp up production of the behind-schedule 787 programme to seven aircraft a month from the present two.

Boeing is facing problems as its major Dreamliner suppliers are situated at locations from Kansas and South Carolina to Italy and Japan.

The delay will not affect work on the four aircraft currently on the final assembly line and the first aircraft will be delivered on schedule by the end of the year.
