Remote sensing satellite Cartosat-2B will be launched atop a polar satellite launch vehicle on 9 May 2010, according to the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO).
The satellite will facilitate infrastructure and urban planning, and the on-board camera will provide scene-specific spot imageries for cartographic and other civilian applications, according to the Press Trust Of India.

The 700kg Cartosat-2B will take 0.8m resolution pictures, and is designed for an operational life of five years.
The PSLV-C15 launch vehicle will carry four more satellites with the Cartosat-2B, including an Algerian satellite weighing 117kg, two nano satellites from Canada and Switzerland and a pico satellite, StudSat.
