Aigle Azur’s first directly purchased new A319 aircraft has been delivered by Airbus.
The aircraft will join the airline’s existing fleet of ten A320 family aircraft, comprising three A319s, three A320s and four A321s.
Powered by CFM-56 engines from CFM International, the aircraft can carry 144 passengers in a two-class cabin layout.
The airplane purchase is in line with the airline’s fleet upgrade strategy. It will feature the latest aircraft design and technological improvements for better fuel and emission efficiency.
Airbus customers chief operating officer John Leahy said that by adding this new A319 to its fleet, Aigle Azur was ensuring that it would be well positioned to build on its success with modern, efficient and comfortable single-aisle products.
Aigle Azur carries passengers to major tourist destinations in Southern Europe, the Mediterranean basin and Northern and Western Africa.
