Boeing has completed a site survey of the Terma facility in Denmark to assess the capability for possible commercial airplane work.

Terma demonstrated its growing capabilities in the areas of design, production control, machining, composites, assembly and quality management during the survey.

The survey is a part of Boeing’s plan to build long-term partnerships with Danish industry under the industrial cooperation programme for its F/A-18E/F Super Hornet bid in Denmark’s new combat aircraft competition.

The aerostructures supplier plans to grow its Grenaa facility by expanding the composites capabilities beyond the defence industry into commercial aerostructures.

Boeing Northern Europe president Jan Närlinge said the visit confirmed Terma could be a viable partner and supplier of commercial aerospace structures.

Terma has worked with Boeing on a number of programmes including electronic components and harnesses for the Nato airborne warning and control system (AWACS) and the electronic warfare management system for the P-8A maritime patrol aircraft.
