Boeing will deliver seven 737-800 aircraft to Air Algerie, as per a new order.

The short-to-medium-range airplane can seat up to 189 passengers in a single-aisle configuration and fly up to 3,060km at a speed of Mach 0.78.

The next-generation 737 is to undergo a combination of airframe and engine improvements that will reduce fuel consumption by 2% by 2011.

The aircraft will add to the airline’s present fleet bringing the number of aircraft to 22.

The new planes ordered by Air Algérie have blended winglets, which reduce fuel burn by about 4%.

Air Algérie, based in Algeria’s capital Algiers, operates a Boeing fleet that includes ten 737-800s, five 737-600s and three 767-300s.
