Dubai Aerospace Enterprise (DAE) has ordered CFM56-5B engines to power 20 new Airbus A320 aircraft from CFM International.

The engine will offer 27,000lb of thrust to the A320 and will have a tech insertion configuration to offer a 1% improvement in fuel consumption over the life of the product, compared to the base CFM56-5B engine and lower CO2 emissions.

The configuration is also optimised to produce 25% lower NOx emissions, provide longer time on wing and lower maintenance costs by 5% to 12% depending on the thrust rating.

The improvements result from enhancements to the high-pressure compressor and the high and low-pressure turbines.

DAE is an aircraft leasing firm that also offers maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) and aviation IT solutions, while CFM International is an engine manufacturer jointly owned by Snecma (SAFRAN Group) and GE.
