Israel Aerospace Industries has successfully demonstrated its Heron unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) system in Brazil at the request of the Brazilian federal police.

The Brazilian police is testing the Heron for uses such as border security, relaying real time data and intelligence, carrying multiple sensors, employing satellite communications and automatic take-off and landing.

During the flight, the UAV performed in difficult weather and in the presence of commercial air traffic in full coordination with local air traffic control.
