The tool will be employed to accurately measure and adjust gas pressure in landing struts while the aircraft is on the ground to reduce component fatigue and tyre and runway wear during take-off and landing.

Accuracy is critical since the trainer has low strut pressures and inaccurate pressure can result in hard landings, tyre blow outs, under-carriage damage, strut failure and damage to runway surfaces.

The firm is also developing a similar tool for Hawk-128.
