Bombardier Aerospace has won a $129m follow-on order from Uruguay flag carrier Pluna Lìneas Aéreas Uruguayas to supply three CRJ900 NextGen regional jetliners.
The company said the new aircraft will expand on Pluna’s existing fleet of ten CRJ900 NextGen aircraft, the only aircraft type in the liner’s possession.
Pluna secured the options to buy the aircraft last year, and has options to buy another three aircraft in 2012.
The new aircraft will start work by the end of the year, and the purchase will be funded by Export Development Canada.
The CRJ jetliner family includes the original 50-seat CRJ100/200, 70-seat CRJ700, 75-seat CRJ705, 88-seat CRJ900 and the new 100-seat CRJ1000 aircraft.
The order from Pluna will increase Bombardier’s orders for CRJ900 and CRJ900 NextGen airliners to 265, with 244 delivered by 31 January 2011.
