Boeing will deliver the first of 27 Dreamliner aircraft ordered by Air India some time between October and December, following a delay of two years on the original schedule of 2009.
Air India ordered the Dreamliner aircraft as part of a $15bn 111-aircraft order with Boeing and Airbus in 2005.
Air India, which should have received 20 Dreamliner aircraft by now, according to an initial delivery schedule, has lost Rs60bn ($1.3bn) in revenue due to the delay.
Boeing has also received orders for ten Dreamliners from Jet Airways in India, according to the Wall Street Journal.
