BMI is planning to cancel its service from Glasgow, Scotland, to Heathrow Airport in London, England, following sharp rises in passenger fees by the airport.

Presently, BMI runs five flights daily between Glasgow and Heathrow.

Heathrow airport’s hike in domestic passenger fees from £13.43 ($21.20) to £20.25 ($31.60) per passenger will cause BMI to run a run a monthly loss of $1.5m.

If BMI cancels its service; British Airways will be the only carrier providing flights between Heathrow and Glasgow Airport in UK.

Scottish Government officials and business leaders have expressed their concerns about the impact BMI’s decision may have on the city’s commerce, according to reuters.com.
