Russia’s Progress M-08M cargo spacecraft has been undocked from the International Space Station (ISS) and will be sunk in the southern Pacific, at the “spaceship cemetery” near Christmas Island.

A spokesperson for Russian Mission Control said, An order for the undocking was given at 3.40 Moscow time (0.40 GMT) and the space carrier was undocked from the Pirs module.

The Progress series of spacecraft form a prominent part of Russia’s space cargo fleet.

The spacecraft are also used to adjust the ISS’s orbit and undertake experiments, according to RIA Novosti.
