American Airlines has exercised options for two Boeing 777-300ERs.

American Airlines is the first US carrier to order the wide-body model of the twin-engine, twin-aisle, long-haul 777 series.

The new airplanes will complement the carrier’s large fleet of 777-200ERs, offering additional flexibility in serving non-stop routes while providing increased efficiency and reliability.

The Boeing 777-300ER is 19% lighter than its closest competitor, and produces 22% less carbon dioxide and costs 20% less to operate per seat.

The aircraft can seat up to 365 passengers in a three-class configuration and has a maximum range of 7,930nm (14,685km).

Boeing also incorporated several performance enhancements for the 777-300ER, extending its range and payload capabilities.
