Astrotech Space Operations, a subsidiary of Astrotech Corporation, has received a $35m indefinite delivery, indefinite quantity (IDIQ) contract from NASA.

Under the contract, Astrotech will provide facilities and payload processing services from its Vandenberg Air Force Base located in California, US, to support NASA’s national polar-orbiting operational environmental satellite system preparatory project mission, scheduled to launch in October 2011.

The preparatory projected is a joint mission to extend key measurements in support of long-term monitoring of climate trends and global biological productivity.

The mission will record atmospheric and sea surface temperatures, humidity sounding, land and ocean biological productivity, as well as cloud and aerosol properties.
