Goodrich has delivered its first thrust reversers for the Airbus A350 XWB twinjet’s Rolls-Royce Trent XWB engine, which will be used in the engine ground test programme.

In 2005, Airbus awarded the $6bn contract to Goodrich to be the exclusive provider of the nacelles and thrust reversers for the A350 XWB for 20 years.

Goodrich will deliver four nacelles and thrust reversers for the ground testing, one for the flying test bed and the remaining ten for the flight test programme, along with two spare units.

The company will also provide wheels and carbon brakes, air data and ice detection systems, external video system and cabin attendant seats content on the A350 XWB.

The A350 XWB engine ground testing will be conducted at three facilities in the US, England and Canada.

The thrust reverser actuation system will be the first electric one designed and built by Goodrich.
