Boeing is to acquire Summit Aeronautics Group, a manufacturer of titanium and hard metal structures for commercial and military aircraft.

Boeing has not disclosed the terms and conditions regarding the deal, however, the acquisition is expected to close in the final quarter of 2011, according to the Economic Times.

Summit will continue to work for Boeing and manufacture other machined parts for the 787 Dreamliner following the acquisition.

The company also works on hard metal machining on 747-8 fail-safe bars, 787 edge frames that fit around the doors, and 767 main-landing-gear beams.
