Air China has awarded a contract to Rolls-Royce to supply Trent engines to power its 20 new Airbus aircraft.

Under the $1.8bn contract, Rolls-Royce will provide Trent XWB engines for ten A350 XWBs and Trent 700 engines for ten A330s.

The Trent 700 is the only engine specifically designed for the A330. It delivers the best payload capacity, particularly in hot and high altitude locations, such as Lhasa Airport.

The Trent XWB, specifically designed for the Airbus A350 XWB, offers 28% better fuel efficiency than pre-Trent-generation engines.
