Boeing has delivered the first of five 777-200LR Worldliner aircraft to Ethiopian Airlines under an order signed in 2009.

The airline will use the 777-200LRs on a new, non-stop service from Washington DC to Addis Ababa and new long-haul, non-stop routes like Beijing.

The twin-engine long-haul commercial 777-200LR aircraft can carry more passengers and cargo than any other plane.

The 777-200LR has provision for up to three optional fuel tanks in the aft cargo area, to fly up to 9,395nm with a full payload of 301 passengers.

Ethiopian Airlines chief executive officer Ato Girma Wake said with the delivery of its first 777-200LR, Ethiopian was the first airline in Africa to operate the world’s most technologically advanced and longest-range airplane.
