Singapore Airlines (SIA) has decided to replace the engines on three of its 11 A380 aircraft and ground flights in Sydney, Melbourne and London following the engine failure of Qantas flight QF32.

SIA said Rolls-Royce had recommended further inspections of the engines because of oil staining.

The airline said all three returning planes will be fitted with spare Rolls-Royce Trent 900 engines and will be ready for take-off in about two days.

SIA said it will use its Boeing 747s and 777s as substitutes for A380 aircraft while it remains grounded.

The airline said it will stick to its existing orders for eight new A380s, to todayonline.com.
