China Eastern Airlines has ordered Rolls-Royce Trent 700 engines worth $1.2bn to power 16 Airbus A330 aircraft.

China Eastern plans to bring its new A330s into service from 2011 with the Trent engines.

The Trent 700 is the only engine specifically designed for the Airbus A330.

The order also includes a TotalCare long-term service agreement. The two firms have formed a carbon partnership, which aims to reduce CO2 emissions by 190,000t in its first year.
