BOC Aviation has ordered eight 777-300ER aircraft from Boeing for $2.2bn.

BOC Aviation will lease the new 777-300ERs to Thai Airways International (THAI).

Thai Airways International president Piyasvasti Amranand said the new 777-300ERs would enhance the fleet modernisation initiative and help the company expand to new markets in Europe.

The economics and high dispatch reliability of 777-300ER will help Thai Airways improve its profitability on new and existing long-haul routes.

Thai currently operates Boeing 777-200, 777-200ER, 777-300 and 777-300ER aircraft.
