Space Systems/Loral (SS/L) has delivered the Intelsat 17 satellite, designed and built for Intelsat, to the European Spaceport in Kourou, French Guiana, in preparation for launch in November 2010.
Intelsat 17 will be positioned at 66º E, effectively next to Intelsat 10 satellite at 68.5º E.
Intelsat 17’s C-band and Ku-band capacity and multi-continental coverage will offer programmers distribution in a region across Asia and into Europe and Africa.
It will replace Intelsat 702, also built by SS/L, that was launched in June 1994.
