The People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA), a US-based animal rights organisation, has announced that over 100 airports across the US have committed to banning the use of glue traps to eliminate rodents.

Glue traps are rodent-control devices that indiscriminately immobilise small animals whether a mouse, bird, or kitten and cause severe pain, trauma, and lead to death.

“According to PETA, the animals die from shock, dehydration, asphyxiation, or blood loss.”

Panicked animals struggle and can tear their flesh, break bones, and become even more tightly ensnared by the adhesive.

According to PETA, the animals die from shock, dehydration, asphyxiation, or blood loss.

The campaign to persuade airports to avoid the use of glue traps began after PETA received several complaints from airport employees and travellers across the US who saw mice suffering at airports using glue traps.

Miami-Dade Aviation Department (MDAD), which controls Miami International Airport and four other airports in the area, as well as the Chicago Department of Aviation (CDA) and the owner of O’Hare International and Midway International airports, have agreed not to use glue traps.
