Textron Aviation unveils the newest addition to the renowned 560XL series, the Citation Ascend by Cessna.

The Citation Ascend, which was unveiled at the European Business Aviation Convention and Exhibition, is expected to enter service in 2025.

According to the Citation Ascend manual, the jet is set to be the future of business aviation, being able to achieve a maximum speed cruise of 817km/h, with an estimated range of 2,100 nautical miles.

Textron Aviation president and CEO Ron Draper stated: “Of the Citation family, there’s none more flown than the Citation 560XL series. With a 560XL aircraft taking off or landing every two minutes somewhere in the world, this aircraft will be part of the most successful business jet family.”

Citation Ascend is said to have a sleek appearance with contemporary features. Throughout the design process, the company collaborated with a customer advisory board made up of owners, pilots, technicians and passengers to better understand what customers wanted from the ideal aircraft experience.

Draper stated: “On behalf of our teams, we are proud to announce the latest innovation in the Citation family — the new Cessna Citation Ascend. We asked customers what they wanted in the next evolution of this iconic aircraft and we believe the Citation Ascend will deliver.”

Customers may choose from a variety of basic and optional amenities with a fully customised interior to best suit their needs. To give passengers a new degree of spacious legroom and freedom, the aircraft will have a flat floor.

According to Textron Aviation’s SVP of customer experience Christi Tannahill, the flat floor is a game-changer: “The design gives passengers more room to swivel their seats, stretch their legs and comfortably move around the cabin.”

Moreover, modern Garmin G5000 avionics with the most recent software and hardware will be available in the Cessna Citation Ascend aircraft.

The avionics include auto throttle technology to reduce pilot workload, three large, 14-inch ultra-high-resolution displays with split-screen capabilities and standard dual flight management systems.

In addition, the Pratt and Whitney Canada PW545D engines for the Citation Ascend are made to provide improved fuel efficiency, more thrust and an extended time on the wing.

Textron Aviation stated that the Cessna Citation Ascend is the pinnacle of efficiency and productivity as the PW545D engines include Full Authority Digital Engine Control (FADEC), the system also provided in the Beechcraft Denali.

The FADEC enables the new auto throttle technology and ensures they run as efficiently as possible while lessening the stress on the pilot.

Textron Aviation has been extending its collective talent for over 95 years, spanning across the Cessna, Beechcraft and Hawker brands, in aid to deliver the most advanced aviation experience for their customers.
