Honeywell Aerospace’s new navigational technology called integrated multi-mode receiver (IMMR) will be available as an option for A320 and A330 aircraft to enhance safety and efficiency.
Airbus customers will be able to access Honeywell’s latest technology by 2018.

The new IMMR is the only all-digital navigation radio that provides low cost accurate navigation capabilities.
IMMR integrates multiple navigation functions into a single receiver by reducing size and weight up to 50% compared with current solutions. This solution helps pilots to fly more precise flight paths.
The new technology includes satellite-based augmentation system, required navigation performance authorisation and GPS Landing System (GLS) Category I.
In future, IMMR aims to support multiple satellite-based navigation solutions beyond GPS.

With the help of Honeywell’s satellite-based SmartPath ground-based augmentation system, IMMR will provide a more accurate approach and landing access to airline operators than land-based systems.
It also provides landing capabilities in very-low-visibility weather conditions.
