The National Airports Corporation (NAC) of Papua New Guinea has renewed its contract with Rockwell Collins for ARINC Airport Solutions at Jacksons International Airport in Port Moresby.

Included under the contract are a range of solutions to help NAC meet its goal of operating 15 smart airports by 2030 to accommodate security requirements and IATA initiatives to deliver faster processing times for passengers.

The products included in the contract are:

  • Rockwell Collins’ ARINC vMUSE: common-use check-in
  • ARINC AirVue: enhanced flight information display systems
  • ARINC AirDB: optimised operational database
  • ARINC AirPlan: maximised scheduling and resource management
  • ARINC VeriPax: automated airport security screening
  • Local DCS and baggage reconciliation

Proven expertise and depth of experience

Managing director and chief executive officer of the NAC Richard Yopo said: “Our work with Rockwell Collins dates back five years. Their proven expertise and depth of experience working with airports of all sizes across Asia was a key factor in our selection decision.

“We are confident that with the deployment of these solutions, we will be able to improve the passenger experience, streamline the passenger reconciliation processes and strengthen security at the airport. Most importantly, it enables us to provide a consistent model for passenger processing for all airlines that operate at POM Airport.”

Yun Chong, global head of sales, Airport Systems for Rockwell Collins, said: “The latest version of vMUSE will optimise business operations by providing the NAC with data analytics to monitor what’s working and what needs further attention.

“We are honored to be a part of NAC’s smart airports mission and value our collaborative relationship in customizing a solution for POM.”

The NAC of Papua New Guinea operates 22 airports. Port Moresby Jacksons International Airport (POM) is the region’s main airport and it is expected that it will be the model for passenger processing for all airlines that operate from it.
