CAG said that passengers departing from T2 would see a design concept that has been inspired by elements of nature.

The automated check-in kiosks at T2 will allow passengers to self-check in before dropping off their luggage at the baggage check-in counters.

Once completed, passengers can head for immigration clearance via the automated immigration clearance gates.

The first carrier to utilise the new check-in rows at T2 will be Singapore Airlines.

According to CAG, T2 has been designed to further improve the travellers’ check-in and wayfinding experience.

The terminal will also feature a wide range of food and beverage as well as retail outlets in the public and transit spaces.

CAG Airport Management executive vice-president Tan Lye Teck said: “With a refreshed design, upgraded systems and a high degree of automation across the passenger journey, T2 will enable Changi to serve our passengers better as we prepare for a busier year-end holiday peak.

“CAG will work closely with our airline and airport partners to welcome more passengers at T2.”

By resuming departure operations at T2, CAG aims to spread out passenger operations more evenly across the airport’s terminals and increase the airport’s capacity.

It will carry out more operational readiness trials with airline and airport partners before the reopening.

Last month, CAG said that it would resume operations at Terminal 4 (T4) on 13 September 2022.
