Indonesia’s airline Lion Group, the parent company of Lion Air, is planning to enter into a $3bn deal for nearly 50 Bombardier CSeries aircraft by the end of Q1 next year.
The proposed order follows Lion Group’s two recent major jet orders, valued at $46bn.
Lion Group public relations head Leithen Francis told AFP that the company was hoping to complete the deal with Canadian manufacturer Bombardier for at least 50 new medium-range CS300 aircraft early next year.
"We are talking to Bombardier, we are considering the CS300, we do hope that negotiations do progress to where we can come to a decision by the first quarter," Francis said.
The deliveries of the planned order are expected to start in 2016.
However, the carrier is yet to decide whether the new aircraft would be allocated to its low-cost airline Lion Air or full-service airline Batik Air, Francis told AFP.
