Flexjet, a newly created firm funded by a group led by Directional Aviation Capital, has placed 30 new firm orders for Learjet 85 aircraft, adding to its previously ordered 30 jets.
Flexjet is also procuring incremental options for 20 Learjet 85 aircraft.
The latest transaction, which is a part of the Flexjet’s deal to purchase up to 245 Bombardier business jets, brings the total number of Learjet 85 aircraft purchased by Flexjet to 60, valued at about $1.2bn.
Directional Aviation Capital principal Kenn Ricci said significant customer demand has convinced the company that increasing the size of the Learjet 85 fleet was necessary.
"With a modern interior, range capability and speed, the Learjet 85 will support our discerning clients and leave us uniquely positioned for our future needs," Ricci said.
Flexjet is the launch customer for Bombardier’s Learjet 85 aircraft, and deliveries from the latest order are scheduled to begin following the original firm order for 30 Learjet 85s.

By GlobalDataOn 5 September, Flexjet ordered 85 business aircraft comprising 25 Learjet 75, 30 Learjet 85, 20 Challenger 350 and 10 Challenger 605 jets.
The deal also included options for an additional 160 business jets.
The latest conversion of options to orders of 30 additional Learjet 85 aircraft brings the firm order part of the deal to nearly $2.4bn, for a total of 115 firm orders and the number of options to 150 business aircraft.
If all the options are exercised, the total value of the order will now be around $5.6bn, Bombardier said.
