
British airline easyJet has extended the maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) contract with Goodrich’s Aircraft Wheels and Brakes.
Under the ten-year extension contract, Goodrich will continue to provide wheels and carbon brakes for the airline’s fleet of more than 200 A319/A320 aircraft, in addition to 15 A320 aircraft currently on order and also offer MRO support.
easyJet technical contracts and logistics head Rob Mayo said that the reliability of the Goodrich products would allow the airline to maintain its business model aircraft.
"The seamless MRO support provided by Goodrich’s UK service centre allows us to focus on other aspects of our operation," Mayo added.
Goodrich’s A320 carbon brakes employ the company’s DURACARB carbon heat sink material, which is expected to offer enhanced brake performance and increase the life of brake at 35% compared with the equipment of its range.
According to the US equipment manufacturer, the DURACARB material improves the efficiency of brake, which can attain 2,000 cycles amid shop visits, and will also reduce both line maintenance and overhaul expenses for operators.

By GlobalDataThe order for an additional 15 A320 aircraft was signed in January 2011, which makes the airline the world’s largest customer for this line of aircraft, according to Airbus.
Operational commonality of Airbus’s A320 aircraft line will allow the operators to employ the same team of pilots, cabin crews and maintenance engineers and further improve the operational flexibility and offer cost savings.
Airbus has booked orders for 6,800 A320 aircraft and has delivered 4,500 of the line to 310 global customers and operators.
